Our People

The People Behind The Anthony Seddon Fund

The Anthony Seddon Fund is powered by a dedicated team of staff, volunteers and trustees who share a passion for supporting mental wellbeing within our community. Together, we create welcoming spaces where people can connect, access support and build positive relationships.

A Team Built on Lived Experience

Lived experience is at the heart of The Anthony Seddon Fund. Many of our staff, volunteers and trustees bring personal experience of mental health challenges, recovery, caring responsibilities or bereavement, helping to shape the support we provide.

We believe that combining professional skills, personal experience and genuine compassion helps us create a supportive, understanding and community-focused organisation where people feel able to belong and thrive.

Our staff, volunteers and trustees work together to create a community where people feel welcomed, supported and valued.

Harry Thomas, Chief Executive Officer of The Anthony Seddon Fund.

Harry Thomas

Chief Executive Officer

Following the death of my brother, Anthony, to suicide, I became involved with The Anthony Seddon Fund and have since grown through a number of roles to become Chief Executive Officer.

Having experienced my own mental health difficulties, I care deeply about making sure people have somewhere they feel welcomed, listened to and supported. I’m proud to work alongside our team to help TASFund grow while keeping lived experience at the heart of everything we do.

Ben James, Operations Manager at The Anthony Seddon Fund.

Ben James

Operations Manager

Hi, I’m Ben. Having lost my brother to suicide and experienced mental health issues of my own, I am extremely passionate about mental health peer support and providing a space where people can come together, share experiences and know they are not alone. You will often see me wandering around the Centre, not knowing what day it is, or out and about at community events.

I first became involved with TASFund when my mum passed away and I accessed the bereavement group. I went on to become a volunteer and facilitator and also worked for SAFE Tameside. I then moved into the Peer Support Worker role within the Centre, where I am passionate about using my own lived experience of mental health and bereavement to help others.

Operations Assistant

I understand first-hand how challenging living with mental health difficulties can be. Having experienced my own struggles, I know how important it is to have the right support from people who genuinely care. I’m proud to be part of an organisation that helps break down the stigma around mental health and provides hope, compassion and a safe space for people to feel heard and supported without judgement.

Cath, Domestic Assistant at The Anthony Seddon Fund

Cath

Domestic Assistant

I have worked as a Cleaner at The Anthony Seddon Fund for over six years. Before that, I volunteered with the charity and attended the Centre as a customer. I love working here because TASFund supports the rights of people experiencing mental health difficulties, provides so many groups and activities, and works closely with the local community. It is also the one place where I have never felt judged or discriminated against because of my mental health, and that means a great deal to me.

Abi, SAFE Tameside Peer Support Worker

Abi

SAFE Tameside Peer Support Worker

I’m Abi, a SAFE Tameside Peer Support Worker. I provide crisis support to people when they are often at one of the most difficult points in their lives. I love working for The Anthony Seddon Fund because I get to be part of a team that meets people with kindness, compassion and understanding. Even one conversation can help someone feel heard, regain hope and realise they do not have to face things alone.

Angela from The Anthony Seddon Fund Reception Team

Angela

Reception Team

I enjoy being one of the first friendly faces people see when they arrive at The Anthony Seddon Centre. I hope to give everyone a warm, welcoming and reassuring start to their visit, helping them feel comfortable and at ease from the moment they walk through the door.

Mark from The Anthony Seddon Fund Reception Team

Mark

Reception Team

I came to The Anthony Seddon Fund hoping to become a volunteer and quickly realised how special it was. I became a regular customer while waiting to volunteer and, with support and encouragement from the staff, was offered a small Receptionist role before becoming one of our three regular Receptionists. Before coming to TASFund, I felt on the scrapheap of society. Today, my life has changed beyond my wildest imagination, and I feel privileged to be a small part of such a dedicated team.

Rebecca from The Anthony Seddon Fund Reception Team

Rebecca

Reception Team

I was introduced to The Anthony Seddon Fund after being discharged from hospital in 2021. I started as a customer, then became a volunteer before progressing into a paid role as a Receptionist, and I haven’t looked back since. TASFund truly feels like a family, and I’ve been able to use my own experience of mental health difficulties to help support other people.
